Anti-virus application added to My World@Mail.Ru social network
1 September 2010, Moscow. Mail.Ru and Rentsoft have launched a new anti-virus service which can be installed as an application on the My World@Mail.Ru social network. My World users now have rock-solid protection for their computers from harmful programs and malicious hackers, using licensed anti-virus software – for only 49 rubles per month.
The anti-virus application works like any other desktop anti-virus program: the program is installed on the computer and protects it in real time on all incoming and outgoing communications channels. The application on My World serves as a control panel for the program, for instance to block it during vacation (pay for the program only when you use it) or replace it with another anti-virus program. Users already have access to licensed products from Dr. Web, Panda, ESET, Agnitum (Outpost series) and more to come in the near future.
Only a few clicks are needed to install the anti-virus application. A subscription to the program costs as little as 49 rubles/month depending on the version and feature set chosen. Payment can be made using any convenient method, such as Money@Mail.Ru, a bank card, cash at a payment terminal, and more.
My World@Mail.Ru users can also participate in a special bonus program: the more friends one invites to subscribe to the social network’s anti-virus software, the longer that person can take advantage of licensed anti-virus protection for absolutely free.
“The security of Mail.Ru users is a top priority for our company. All of our services use the best protection solutions from the largest providers worldwide, including Kaspersky Labs, as well as our own innovations. We remind users about the need to install licensed anti-virus software and keep that software up to date. Now thanks to the special application on My World@Mail.Ru, it’s easy to find reliable protection for your computer by installing subscription-based licensed anti-virus software, without having to pay in advance for an annual license. Lately on My World@Mail.Ru new types of business and learning applications have been appearing in addition to games. We think this is a promising trend that is growing even stronger, and the number of such useful applications on our network is sure to multiply,” predicted Anna Artamonova, vice president for communications services at Mail.Ru.
Ivan Makarov, Rentsoft’s sales director, had the following to say about the application’s launch: “We are 100% confident that our application will find more than a few fans among My World users. Mail.Ru users who wish to install licensed anti-virus software don’t need to register on third-party websites anymore, enter their personal information, and then activate their subscription by mail and memorize a password. Just two clicks and your computer is protected!”
